Immunity is the ability of the body to defend itself against disease-causing organisms

The immune response is the body's ability to stay safe by protecting against harmful agents. The response involves lines of defense against most microbes. This immune response is either innate, non-specific, adaptive acquired, or highly specific. i) The innate response, often our first defense against anything foreign, defends the body against a pathogen. These natural mechanisms include the skin barrier, saliva, tears, and numerous cells, like White Blood Cells (WBCs) natural killer cells, red blood cells (RBCs), platelets, etc. ii) The adaptive acquired immune response uses the ability of specific lymphocytes and their products, such as antibodies and cytokines, to generate a response against the invading microbes.

Lack of nutritious food, lack of sleep, reduced phyiscal activity, pollution, etc. could lead to low immunity

When you have increased susceptilibly to catch infections or you fall sick often and have more number of sick days

Certain signs of poor immunity are falling sick often, catching cold, cough or infections frequently and severely. If your diet is imbalanced and lacks micronutrients, you may be at an even greater risk for low Immunity.

Getting enough micronutrients in daily diet has been a raising concern among many worldwide. Due to the changing lifestyle and hectic schedule, most people only try to fill their stomach with readily available food options when hungry. This usually leads to calorie-dense meal choices instead of nutrient-dense meals. Such calorie dense meals are low in vitamins and minerals, but high in carbs, sugar, sodium and fats.

Data suggests, many Indians are unable to get sufficient amount of micronutrients from the foods they eat. To get the recommended daily allowances of vitamins and minerals one needs to eat a lot of fruits and vegetables, which is not a common trend in many households due to various factors. Hence, one's daily diet may not contain enough micronutrients. Various other factors like vegetarianism could also lead to Vitamin B12 and Iron deficiency.

Vitamins and Minerals like Iron, Zinc, Vit C, B12, Folate are required for the proper functioning of Immune System. These micronutrients can support body’s natural defence system by enhancing all three levels of Immunity
